A DeepArt de Setembro já saiu e posso dizer-vos que é uma das minhas preferidas.
É uma September Issue cheia de artigos interessantes e editoriais lindos de morrer.

Não resisti e tive de pedir a contracapa para publicar aqui porque achei a foto um final perfeito para uma edição tão boa.
É trabalho pessoal do Tiago Costa, o fotógrafo e editor da DeepArt, mas arrancou-me um sorriso de agradável surpresa quando a vi e por isso cá está ela ;)

September's DeepArt is out and I can already tell you it's one of my favourites so far.
It's a September Issue full of interesting articles and drop-dead-gorgeous fashion and product editorials.

I could not resist and had to ask for the back cover to post it here as well because I thought the photo was a perfect ending for such a good issue.
It's a personal work by Tiago Costa, DeepArt's photographer and editor-in-chief, but it stole me a smile of pleasant surprise when I saw it, so here it is ;)

Rita Reutiliza III: Cabide para Bijuteria

Este é o meu "Rita Reutiliza" preferido, de longe.
De novo, peguei numa tábua de madeira que me tinha sobrado de outro projecto (ainda cá tenho algumas, por isso bases para novos DIY não faltam...) e transformei-a em algo que gostava de ter: um cabide para bijuteria.

Tudo o que precisei foi:
- uma tábua de madeira (o formato foi à minha escolha, tendo em conta a oferta que cá tenho em casa; optei por esta mais perto de um quadrado porque sabia que queria desenhar algo no centro)
- tinta acrílica branca
- tinta acrílica vermelha
- tinta multi-superfícies dourada
- camarões

Primeiro, pintei a tábua toda de branco.
Depois, pintei as laterais de vermelho, para dar um toque de cor.
De seguida, desenhei um motivo que me apelasse no centro. O desenho original era outro, mas os materiais que utilizei não eram os melhores e só serviram para me sujar (muito) as mãos. Optei por me inspirar na minha Holga e desenhá-la a linha com tinta dourada. Ficou tão mais bonito que o desenho original!
No fim, bastou-me fazer furos na lateral de baixo e enroscar os camarões que quisesse.

Fácil, rápido e bonito!

This is my favourite "Rita Reuses", by far.
Once again, I used a leftover wood board from another project (I still have a few, so I've got plenty of material for new DIY's...) and transformed it into something I would like to have: a jewelry hanger.

All I needed was:
- a wood board (I chose the shape because I had a lot of offer at home; I went with this one, closer to a square, because I knew I wanted to paint something in the center)
- white acrylic paint
- red acrylic paint
- golden multi-surface paint
- screw eyes

First, I painted the board all white.
Then, I painted the sides red, for a pop of colour.
Next, I painted something that appealed to me in the center. The original motif was different, but the materials I used weren't any good and all they did was mess my hands (a lot). I got inspired in my Holga and decided to draw it using golden paint. It turned out so much prettier than the original idea!
In the end, all I had to do was drill some tiny holes and screw as many screw eyes in as I pleased.

Easy, quick and beautiful!

A DeepArt fez um ano no mês passado e apresenta a sua 13ª edição com uma cara fresca!

Rita Reutiliza II: Prateleira Pop of Colour

O segundo "Rita Reutiliza" é uma prateleira.

Feita com duas placas de madeira que sobraram de um outro projecto que um dia há-de ter o seu devido destaque aqui no blog, tudo o que precisei de fazer foi pintá-las.

Comprei uma lata de tinta branca acrílica para todas as superfícies e juntei as duas peças com cola para madeira e duas placas de junção.

Depois só precisei de comprar os suportes (50 cêntimos cada, no IKEA) e afixá-la na parede.

Ficou óptima porque já se impunha mais espaço de arrumação no escritório.

E adoro o toque de cor que dá ao meu cantinho ♥

The second "Rita Reuses" is a shelf.

Made out of two leftover wooden pieces from another project which will be featured in the blog in due time, all I had to do was paint them.

I bought a can of all-surface acrilic white paint and I joined the two pieces with wood glue and two joint plates.

After that, all I had to do was buy the supports and fix it on the wall.

It turned out great as I was in sort of an urgent need of more storage in the office.

And I just love the pop of colour it brings to my little corner ♥

 

DeepArt nº 12: Edição Especial 1º Aniversário

A DeepArt fez um ano este mês.
Apesar de só ter começado a colaborar com eles em Outubro, comemoro esta edição com tanta emoção como os criadores deste projecto tão especial.
É com muito orgulho que faço parte desta equipa tão trabalhadora, inovadora e apaixonada.
Que venham mais 12, 24, 36 meses!

Even though I only started to collaborate with them in October, I celebrate this edition with as much emotion as the creators of this very special project.

Rita Reutiliza I: Base para Bule

Decidi começar uma nova rúbrica aqui no blog: Rita Reutiliza.
Aqui poderão encontrar um pouco de tudo, desde objectos que ganharam novo uso a coisas feitas a partir de materiais descartáveis de alguns produtos.

E aqui está a primeira criação.
Sabem o que podem fazer com os rolos de cartão do papel higiénico e do papel de cozinha?
Muitas coisas.

Eu fiz isto: uma base para o bule de chá.
Agora só faltam bases mais pequenas para as canecas.
E estou a pensar nas tintas metalizadas que comprei há uns tempos... ♥

A lot of things.

I made this: a coaster for the teapot.
Know all that's missing are some smaller coasters for the cups.
And I'm thinking of all those metallic paints I bought a while ago... ♥

A DeepArt nº 9 já anda aí, desde dia 1 de Abril!

O tema desta edição era "Pormenores" e o meu artigo era sobre formas criativas, mais e menos conceptuais, de combater a chuva.
Ainda bem que ela já se foi embora, porque as saudades deste tempo quentinho já eram mais que muitas!

Bird Jewelry Hanger

Dizer que fazer esta peça deu trabalho não é suficiente. Dizer que fazer esta peça deu MUITO trabalho continua a não chegar para descrever o que isto realmente implicou. Dizer que fazer esta peça deu tanto trabalho como o prazer que dá agora olhar para ela acabada aproxima-se muito mais da realidade.

Tudo isto começou com a caixinha do passarinho que vêm entre os ramos. Foi feita com a base de uma caixa para transportar garrafas de vinho; pintei o interior com tinta acrílica e a sua função inicial era guardar pulseiras. Mas um passarinho azul disse-me que a achava demasiado simples. Então pus-me a pensar no que poderia fazer para lhe dar mais graça. E surgiu a ideia de uma árvore cujos ramos servissem para pendurar outras peças de bijuteria, como colares, brincos e anéis.

E foi assim que surgiu esta espécie de cabide para bijuteria. Foram horas a cortar os raminhos todos com o x-acto, feitos em cartão de 2mm de espessura (que é muito, caso julguem que não!). Mas no final, fiquei feliz :)



To say that making this piece required a lot of work is not enough. To say that making this piece required A HUGE AMOUNT of work still doesn't describe what making it really meant. To say that making this piece required as much work as the pleasure it means to look at it now that it's finished comes a little bit closer to reality.

It all started with the little bird box you see between the branches. It was made with a cardboard box used to carry wine bottles; I painted the interior with acrylic paint and the initial function I had for it was to store bangles. But a little bird told me he thought it was too simple. So I started thinking about a way I could make it richer. And the idea of a tree whose branches would hold other pieces of jewelry like necklaces, earrings and rings came to mind. 

And that's how this jewelry hanger was born. It involved hours of cutting the little branches off a 2mm thick (which is a lot, in case you think it's not!) cardboard sheet with a cutter. But in the end, I was happy :)
